Summary
The Last Stand of the Plushies (LSOP) is a fun new take on the roguelike genre. It was created for my senior capstone project at High Point University in the Spring of 2021. I worked primarily as an audio engineer and voice actor, creating music for the game and voices for the PC and NPCs. My team and I were chosen by the Game Design Department to represent HPU at ECGC 2021. You can learn more about the game and play it for yourself by clicking here!
Audio Engineering
The Problem: We needed original audio for music, sound effects, and characters so that players would feel more immersed in the world.
The Solution: I used Soundtrap, a digital audio workstation, to compose music for the game’s different levels.
For the roguelike music, I wanted to lean more into the cutesy, playful atmosphere of our game world because it would better serve the player experience.
With the tower defense music, I wanted the player to feel like they were going into a grandiose battle. Something that gets the blood pumping to let the player know they’re in for a fight.
Voice Acting
The Problem: The PC and enemies needed various sound effects for hitting, moving, etc.
The Solution: There’s a recording studio on my college campus, so, in order to save time and money (and flex my vocal chords a bit) I recorded the audio with my own voice and used Adobe Audition for the final edits.

I also did some extra artwork for the game and I got to design the logo!
